Masterclass with Professor Yoshikazu Nagai
Bay PianoFest 2025
Bay PianoFest is honored to present a public masterclass with Professor Yoshikazu Nagai, one of the leading piano pedagogues of his generation. Known for his insightful teaching and deep musical integrity, Professor Nagai’s masterclasses offer young artists a transformative experience that goes beyond technical refinement—focusing on expressive depth, stylistic clarity, and artistic individuality.
Yoshikazu Nagai serves as Chair of the Piano Department at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is on faculty at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. His students have won top prizes at major international competitions including the Hilton Head, Gina Bachauer, and Chopin Competitions, and have gone on to perform at prestigious venues worldwide.
In this masterclass, selected Bay PianoFest participants will work one-on-one with Professor Nagai in an open setting, gaining valuable insights into interpretation, performance practice, and the evolving role of the pianist as an artist and communicator.
