Songyuan Tang

Pianist Songyuan Tang has won numerous international competitions including First Prizes and Audience Favorite Prize at the Eastman International Piano Competition and First Prize at the Marian Garcia International Piano Competition. He has given concerts in world-renowned venues such as Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Recital Hall, Kodak Hall, and Xinghai Concert hall. He has made numerous performances in music festivals and symposiums, such as the New Jersey “rising star” concert series and Liszt International Symposium in the USA.
Songyuan Tang was born in Shenyang, China. He studied with professor Fang Zhang in the Middle School of Shenyang Conservatory of Music and making his concerto debut at the age of fourteen with the SCM Symphonic Orchestra. He was a top prize winner at the Xinghai National Piano Competition and Gulangyu National Piano Competition, as well as the recipient of the Yamaha Music Scholarship.
Songyuan Tang has been a member of the faculty at the New Jersey City University since 2017, his students have been admitted to numerous conservatories including Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Peabody Institute of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Songyuan Tang is currently pursuing Doctor of Musical Art degree at Eastman School of Music under Dr. Douglas Humpherys holds teacher assistantship and Graduate Award. His former teacher includes Dr. Min Kim, Martin Canin, and Thomas Schumacher.
