In Memoriam: Prof. John Perry (1935-2025)
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our esteemed former faculty member, John Perry, a true legend in the world of classical music.
John Perry enjoyed an illustrious career as a concert pianist, performing extensively throughout Europe and North America to critical acclaim. A gifted soloist and chamber musician, he collaborated with some of the world’s most distinguished instrumentalists, earning admiration for his artistry, insight, and musical integrity.
John Perry was more than an extraordinary pianist and teacher, he was an inspiration to generations of musicians around the globe. His artistry, wisdom, and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege to learn from him or hear him perform. As a pedagogue, his passion for teaching brought him to masterclasses and festivals around the globe, and he was a respected jury member for many of the world’s most prestigious international piano competitions.
We were privileged to have him as a member of our festival faculty from 2021 through 2023. His presence elevated our community, and his legacy continues to live on through the countless students he mentored with unwavering generosity and passion.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, students, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.
Thank you, Prof. Perry, for everything you gave to the world of music. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
